NEST Celebrates the Fourth of July!

NEST volunteers, friends, staff and former and current board members accompanied a giant bird nest and tossed candy-filled eggs to kids lining Hamilton Avenue for Northside’s 2016 Fourth of July Parade!  Signs hung on the truck hauling the giant nest (and NEST supporters!) celebrated almost ten years of NEST’s work in Northside, including:

  • 17 NEW HOMEOWNERS
  • 15 HISTORIC SINGLE-FAMILY REHABS
  • 4 NEWLY CONSTRUCTED SINGLE-FAMILY HOMES
  • 13 VACANT SIDE LOTS TO YARDS
  • 16 HISTORIC BUILDINGS SAVED FROM DEMOLITION
  • 4 FERGUS LOTS ASSEMBLED & SOLD FOR NEW HOME DEVELOPMENT
  • 2 FULLY-ACCESSIBLE SINGLE-FAMILY REHABS
  • CURRENT PIPELINE OF 4 HISTORIC SINGLE-FAMILY REHABS & 2 NEW SINGLE-FAMILY UNITS
  • 8 HISTORIC HOMES SALE BROKERED FOR REHABS TO OTHER LOCAL DEVELOPERS
  • DEMOLISHED McPERRY’S DELI
  • FIRST 2 LEED CERTIFIED HOMES IN NORTHSIDE  
  • 52 NEW STREET TREES
  • 70 RAIN BARRELS BUILT & STIPENDS FOR AT RISK TEENS/PRICES REDUCED SO AFFORDABLE TO LOWER INCOME RESIDENTS
  • 3 PARK BENCHES (2 @ DAR PARK & 1 @ BADGELEY)
  • BOLLARDS @ CSX VACANT LAND AT MAD ANTHONY
